What do I need to know about an MRI examination?

Our MRI equipment is open which should make the examination easier for patients who are too heavy, too scared or feel too confined in a regular MRI machine.  An examination lasts about 30 min.

  • The MRI is contraindicated for patients who: have any type of metal implanted in their body or a pacemaker, unless it was certified that the implant is suitable for MRI examination, is of orthopedic metal or a tooth filling.
  • We cannot do the following MRI examinations:  abdominal organs, prostate gland, chest, breasts, fingers, inner ear and the pituitary gland.
  • Our following scans are of excellent quality:  the spine, the shoulder, the elbow, the knee, the hips, the cervical spine and, generally, all organs of locomotion, areas affected due to sports injuries, as well as the skull due to headaches.
  • MRI scans with contrast material:  done only when justified and cannot be done at all if the Patient is allergic to metals.

Has pediatric radiology changed?
